Heyy, thanks for stopping by.I’m Djanomi, a 28 year old London based fashion designer with a real love for carnival. After receiving my degree in fashion design, I went on to work as a junior designer in the industry with the likes of Topshop, Miss Selfridge and River Island to name a few, before launching my own fashion brand, DjanD. I Established my brand in 2016 with a style that pays homage to my Rastafarian roots whilst at the same time, appreciating the changes that come with fashion. I have always enjoyed pushing boundaries through my creations and by merging the two, showing people that it is possible to blend tradition with modernity.My love of carnival has been for as long as I can remember. I am a Trin-Bajan and have been playing Mas from before I could walk so it’s safe to say it's in my blood!
To me Carnival is life. I see it as a gift that those who came before us left for us to enjoy. Standing as a reminder to be resilient in the face of oppression, being on the road is a time where we can truly be free, let loose & really take a moment to be present. It is a reminder of where we come from and an opportunity for us to take pride in our culture and celebrate the unity of nations.A dream of mine has always been to merge my two passions of Carnival and Fashion together and I am so glad to officially be able to do that with the launch of DjanD Mas and my private section Ital, for London’s Notting Hill Carnival.Ital is everything pure and authentic. It is natural, it is untainted and it is good for you! This section is a thank you and a promise to carnival, that as the world & carnival as we know it changes, that I will always remember and appreciate its origins and the true meaning of playing Mas. What I hope to bring to the carnival scene is creativity, authenticity and a real love for our culture, which I aim to be translated through my designs. I want each of my masqueraders to feel so beautiful, comfortable & happy with their stress free DjanD experience. Carnival is woman! No matter your shape or size, each masquerader should feel like the star of the show.
